Early this morning Stations 3,4,1,2 were alerted for a Commercial Fire at 4130 Main Street, Shore Stop, for an odor of smoke
By CHINCOTEAGUE VOLUNTEER FIRE CO.
August 25, 2026
Ambulance 3-1, Engine3-4, and Ladder 3 responded. Chief 3, B. Lappin had command. Units investigated a walk in freezer that had a burning odor and haze in the unit. Thermal imaging and surrounding structural elements were used after cutting power to the freezer to determine that it was a burning smell coming from the cooling unit itself and that there was no extension or threat while the unit was not operating. Additional units operating on scene were Engine 4-5 and Tanker 4-7, all others were canceled while enroute to the scene.
