Gidget’s Beach Baby tragically passed away early this morning after a Herculean rescue and an entire day effort from cowboys trying to save her

One of our cowboys spotted Beach Baby yesterday morning on a boat tour. Stuck in the mud far out in the marsh, he got two of her legs unstuck while another cowboy was on the way by boat. Together through no small effort they were able to get her completely unstuck and were able to offer her some water, grain, and hay. After multiple attempts at standing it was determined more hands were needed. As a group of 9 cowboys made their way up to her by truck and trailer and boat. It became apparent her health was deteriorating to the point of no return. The Cowboys were able to tarp and move her 100 yards by hand, lift into a boat and take up to the service road and get her in a trailer.

Once clean at the medical barn she was made comfy and given IV fluids and calcium to help with dehydration and exhaustion. She was able to be hoisted to her feet to no avail. She was made warm under a blanket and passed peacefully early this morning. We are grateful for her 2023 colt with Hoppy; Triton, a future herd stallion who carries on her looks and both parent’s genetics.

As always we are thankful for her donors, the cowboys who selflessly battled in the mud for hours and all the care given to her till the end.
